Terms of Service
Updated 27 August 2026
Plain terms for a harness that helps you think, keeps your record, and — on an account you connect to a venue — places orders under the limits you set. It holds no funds.
What Harness is
Section titled “What Harness is”Harness is a journal and a reasoning tool. It helps you develop trading and investing ideas, records what you decided and why, and reads those decisions back to you later.
It is not a broker, an exchange, a custodian, or an investment adviser, and it holds no funds — your balances stay at the venue, in your own account.
On an account you connect to a venue, it DOES place orders. You supply that venue’s API credentials, they are stored encrypted, and with them the service can open a position, move a stop or a take-profit, reduce a position and cancel an order — on your instruction, or autonomously within the permission and the risk limits you set. You can change that permission or disconnect the account at any time, and you remain responsible for every order placed under your credentials.
On a journal account there is no venue and no credentials. Every trade there is one you entered by hand after executing it yourself, somewhere else.
Nothing here is financial advice
Section titled “Nothing here is financial advice”The advisor discusses ideas, reads charts, and argues with your reasoning. That is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything, and it is not personalised investment advice within the meaning of any financial regulation.
It is a language model. It can be confidently wrong, it can misread a chart, and it can cite a source that does not say what it claims. Treat what it produces as a second opinion from a well-read colleague who has never met your circumstances — useful for pressure-testing a thesis, never a substitute for your own judgement or for a qualified professional’s.
Trading and investing carry risk of loss, including the loss of your entire capital. Leveraged instruments can lose more than you put in. You are solely responsible for every decision you take.
Your account
Section titled “Your account”You need an account to use the app. Keep your credentials to yourself; anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
One person per account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
What you write stays yours
Section titled “What you write stays yours”Your theses, notes, trades, reviews and journals belong to you. We claim no ownership of them and we do not sell them.
We process them only to run the service for you — storing them, showing them back to you, and passing the relevant parts to the model providers that answer your questions. See the Privacy Policy for who those are and what they may do with it.
Acceptable use
Section titled “Acceptable use”Do not use Harness to:
- break the law, or to plan market manipulation, insider dealing, or fraud;
- provide regulated financial advice to other people, in your own name or ours;
- attack, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, or evade its limits;
- resell or redistribute access to it.
Availability and changes
Section titled “Availability and changes”We aim to keep the service running and will not promise it never breaks. Third-party data and model providers have outages, rate limits, and their own terms; when one of them is down, the parts of the app that depend on it will be too. Your journal remains readable.
Features change. We may add, alter or withdraw them. If we make a change that materially reduces what you already rely on, we will say so rather than let you discover it.
Liability
Section titled “Liability”The service is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for trading losses, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Ending it
Section titled “Ending it”You can stop at any time and ask us to delete your account and everything in it.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Except where the law or an ongoing investigation requires otherwise, we will give you a chance to export your journal first.
